About Us

LEO BLAST™ is a division of AKRON® glass recycling, the only manufacturer of purified glass granulates from waste glass in the Balkan region. The premium purity and grade precision of our glass make it an ideal medium for the blasting industry. LEOBlast is a premium crushed glass blasting media abrasive without the premium price tag. This abrasive has been carefully sorted through different processes of separation to give you the cleanest and most pure media for all of your sandblasting needs.

Glass is a material that can be recycled an unlimited number of times and retain the same quality. Every glass item, once it has reached the end of its useful life, automatically becomes a secondary raw material, from which a new one can be made. Recycling one ton of waste glass prevents four kilograms of harmful gases from being released into the atmosphere.
The life of glass decomposition is very long, over 4,000 years. On the other hand, one ton of recycled glass saves 42 kilowatt hours of electricity, 19 liters of oil, 2 cubic meters of landfill space, 603 kilograms of sand, 196 kilograms of Na2CO3, 196 kilograms of CaCO3 (limestone) and 70 kilograms of feldspar. Nevertheless, it is estimated that about 40,000 tons of glass packaging in our country ends up in landfills.
ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
Why Is Crushed Glass The Best Sandblasting Media Abrasive On The Market
COST EFFECTIVE

Crushed glass for sandblasting is by far the most cost effective blasting media on the market. Experts in the blasting industry report back that they used at least 30% less abrasive (some say up to 55% less) when using glass as compared to mineral slags and silica sand.
VERSATILE

LEOBlast Crushed Glass is classified as a semi-hard abrasive. It’s aggressive enough to remove rust from many surfaces and to remove coatings and paints, but not as aggressive as other medias so it does not create a large mil profile that changes the texture of the substrate’s surface.
SAFER

Our crushed glass sandblasting media is safer than silica sand because it's made from 100% recycled glass which contains less than 1% free silica which may be fatal if inhaled.
HYDROPHOBIC

LEOBlast sandblast media is chemically inert and does not react with water so it will not clog up your nozzle or other parts of your blaster.
